We found out about this wonderful service, Quilty Box, when we were given an offer to us through Le cien fabrics.

Quilty Box is a monthly subscription service for quilters.
Full of beautiful fabrics, supplies , Quilty Box is curated by a famous quilt artist each month. The box for June,2017 featured Masako's fabric line "American Country 17".

New Book And Fabric Annoucement

We are so pleased to announce the release of Masako's new book "Quilts for Living" and fabric collection "American Country 16". 

Adding some familiar techniques such as applique, embroidery and punchneedle, Masako made creations with colors she may not have used before.The projects have different purposes and all would be useful in your daily life.  There are cushions and quilts, stationery, sewing tools, and bags for going out!  How happy it is to be surrounded by things you made yourself! 

Each project comes with full color directions for easy reference.

We are also thrilled to announce that this book will be translated into several other languages in the near future.

Masako's New Book "MAISONS & JARDINS EN QUILT" Has Come Out

We are thrilled to announce that Masako's new book, entitled "MAISONS & JARDINS  EN QUILT",  has been published by a french Publishing company, les editions de saxe.

There are beautiful country style creations such as bags, pouches and cushions with various techniques like punch needle, applique and paper piecing. House and garden have  always been Masako's favorite and inspiring motifs.

This is the first one in the history of Masako's books that has been originally published in a  language other than Japanese. 
We will visit a handcraft show held in Paris, "L'aiguille en fete", in the beginning of February and exhibit the creations from the book at les editions de saxe booth for the launch.

"Sutekini Handmade" February and March issues 2015

In January I wrote about the magazine, "Sutekini Handmade", where Masako's works would appear for three consecutive months.

Here are some photos from the February and March issues.

Apart from the basic patterns of the tapestry, a bag with a sewing machine block was the creation of the month for the February issue.

Finally, readers can finish the tapestry over the three month period. There are many pictures which explain how to assemble each block by crocheting. How helpful those pictures are in this finishing process.

"Sutekini Handmade" January issue 2015

"Sutekini Handmade" is a handcraft TV program aired by the Japanese National Public Broadcasting Organization, NHK.

They also publish a textbook to assist viewers in making projects as shown on their programs.

The textbook has another serial section(not aired,textbook only) where Masako's creations appear for three months.

  
Over the three months period, from January to March, Masako teaches how to make a tapestry using seven different blocks.
Three patterns are shown in the January issue.


You see the finished tapestry in the bottom right hand corner of the photo below.
Each block will be assembled by crocheting.

A different creation, using one of the basic patterns of the month, is shown each month.
A pouch, with the bobbin pattern, is shown for the month of January,

Our quilt exhibitions in Tokyo and Osaka will be held next May.

All of our students are currently working on their new quilts.

Simple nine patches with stenciled blocks

This is an interesting block using log cabin and flying geese patterns.

It's always fun to baste a big top with friends.

The maker of this quilt has a strict rule that she only uses fabrics designed by Masako in it.

A pattern called "Around the World". I want to know why it's called this.

Quilt Japan 2015 January vol.160

The new issue of Quilt Japan is in stores now.

Masako's creation appears in the bag section.

Stenciled blocks are well blended with pieced blocks.

Magic Patch's special edition featuring "Quilt Japan"

At the beginning of last December a package, including this magazine, arrived in our mailbox. I was wondering whether or not I had ordered it because Magic Patch is a French magazine published by Les editions de saxe, a French handcraft publishing company.

I turned it over and something caught my eye.
They were photos of needle cases that Masako made for the past issue of Quilt Japan!

And I found that it featured one of issues of a Japanese quilt magazine called Quilt Japan. Here is their website to get further info!

Patchwork Tsushin vol.181 August 2014

The new issue of Patchwork Tsushin was released yesterday in whick some of Masako's work appears over four (4) pages.

The featured technique is stencil. One of the templates she used in here is available at Patchwork Tushinsya publishing company's mail order and CRIB QUILT.
It is so unique that she didn't quilt any works, instead using interfacing to make them three-dimensional.

There are many other wonderful projects in the issue.
Personally I liked one called "Modern Quilt" which only used solid fabrics to make simple and traditional patterns.

American Country 14, designed by Masako Wakayama

"American Country" is the fabric line which Masako designs every year and now the 14th collection has come out!

The theme of the panel is "stitching". It looks embroidered, but it is printed.
It also could be a sampler for those of you who want to practice, embroidering along designs. Every color used in it is matched up with COSMO threads by Le cien that we always use. You do not have to worry that you would go over the lines!
