shipping to Yoko
We got a phone call from Yoko living in Ishinomaki to tell us that her customers wanted to sew, but they didn't have any needles and threads because of the Tsunami.
We decided to ship some sewing kits with the help of a manufacturer.

From Kyoto
Blocks for the quilt "Anata to Watashi no Quilt" were delivered to CRIB QUILT from Kyoto.

SAKURA
The image of Japanese Spring must be Sakura (Cherry Blossom).
I went to a cemetery as now it is in Higan season. ( people visit their tombs in Autumn and Spring when equinoxes happen.)
There were many cherry blossom trees that started blooming.
It will take more days to be in full bloom.
One of attendees at the workshop in Bangkok brought her first baby girl.
Since both of parents liked Japan so much, they named her SAKURA!

A package from Korea
The other day one package was delivered to CRIB QUILT from Korea...
I didn't know where it came from and why, so opened it immediately! There was a quilt magazine.

Consulate of Japan in Chiang mai
On the second day in Chiang mai, one of attendees from my workshop in Bangkok invited us to visit Consulate of Japan in Chiang mai.
We were wondering if the consulate of Japan really meant the official organization which was related to Embassy....
There it was...
It was the real consulate of Japan in Chiang mai!
At the entrance they did security check for our belongings, then we got to a room through a few of thick doors, where some ladies were waiting for us to come with Thai official dresses on.
The second lady from the left hand side is the last princess of Chiang mai.
She was giving a donation to Japan because of this disaster.
He is a consul general.
A mother ( the third lady from the right hand side in upper picture) of the attendee works for Cultural Council in Chiang mai whose vice president is the princess.
Thai people are thinking of us often and feel quite close to us.
We were touched by their thoughts.

The first trip to Chiang mai
After the workshop in Bangkok, we, including Pao and her husband Kob, were headed for Chiang mai taking one hour by airplane to visit one of quilt shops and check local handy crafts. It was our first trip to Chiang mai!
Two brothers of Pao's live there and one of them offered to let us stay at his guest house.
What a nice guest house! This part was extended from the original building and just built last year.
It seems very popular, since it is introduced in a worldly well known travel guide called Lonely Planet!
If you have a chance to visit Chiang mai, please check it out.
He and his family invited us for dinner in the evening of the first day.
We all enjoyed it!
