You might think ... "pictures of what you ate, again?", but we really enjoyed local food.
This is called "Tarte flambee" . Actually the red one at the left hand side is "pizza", as it uses tomato sauce, so the right one is genuine "tarte flambee" with white sauce and cheese. It is heavier than it looks ... but it is worth trying:-))
In the morning of the day, we talked about the pottery with Paulette over homemade cake then when we return to the B&B in the evening, Paulette gave us small pots as souvenirs!
How sweet of her it was!

Antique Dutch Quilts at EPM
At European Patchwork Meeting, exhibitions don't get together in one place. They use churches, city halls and theaters to exhibit quilts.
We went down to the theater to check this "Dutch quilts from 1700 to 2010".
It was packed with people and difficult to see quilts from crowds, but quilts circa 1700-1800 were beautiful!
This was my favorite.
You might think that the boarder is a whole cloth, but it' not.
Birds and flowers of Chintz fabric were carefully appliqued!
It was just magnificent and breath-taking.

Patch for Japan and Crochetons pour le Japon
We met Claire who leads a project of "Crochetons pour le Japon" for the first time at EPM. She is a friend of Marylene's and came to Tokyo to visit the International great quilt festival last January where she saw my latest quilt.
Each piece of the quilt was combined with knitted motifs, so when the disaster happened in Japan on Mar.11, Claire decided to do something for Japan using knitting.

This is her website where you can see beautiful knitted covers.
She asked people online for knitting motifs, and in the end, she made over 120 covers!
Marylene showed us a notebook which has names of people who participated in this project and numbers till over 6500!

Homemade Cake
Paulette, a lady at the B&B is a incredibly nice cook.
In the morning we had this Alsace local homemade cake "Kougelhopf".
According to Paulette, they make this cake with a specific porcelain mold.
The one at the left hand side is taken over through 4 generations! and each mold sorts colors by towns.
What a wonderful tradition!
The 3rd day at EMP
It was Friday, 16th of September.
We had visitors .....
What a coincidence! He is a son of one of well known quilters "Kathy Nakajima", who studies crafts in Paris.
A group from Luxembourg! They are ladies from the committee of a quilt show taken place every other year in Wilverwiltz, Luxembourg and invited us in May 2010. It was like a reunion!
Britta from Germany! She was a neighbour at the Wiverwiltz show! Her works were beautifully exhibited in front of our booth!
She gave workshops at EMP.
This lady visited our booth last time and stopped by to say Hello!

Deep into the night
When we travel other countries, we run across a cultural gap which is definitely one of pleasures of those travels.
We find greetings different from the way Japanese do. ( you will easily find a Japanese person, even in a crowd at an international airport, as we like to bow:-)))
Sonia from Luxembourgish Quilt Guild invited us for dinner. It was an amazing restaurant. We all enjoyed the night very much!
Sonia told us that we should order fish dishes, so with limited info in French on the menu, we had this.
Personally I (Emi) missed rice so it was perfect!
Melissa, Marylene's daughter ordered it as an entree, that was a plate of scallop carpaccio, looked so Japanese. She was so sweet that I could try it! It was delicious!
It was almost 11pm ... but nobody was going to say "Let's call it a night! " ... Everybody was so enthusiastic and energetic!
So we found European took a long time to say GOOD BYE, which we love:-)
They give hugs and kisses, which seems not to end!
We think that it is one of beautiful customs.

The 2nd day at European Meeting Patchwork
It was slower than the first day in the morning, but it was getting pretty busy toward the afternoon.
The lunch that we had was a plate of meat tarte and salads.
The meat tarte is my favorite, but somehow it is difficult to get it in Japan ...
Maybe we could find it at international delicatessen like Dean & Deluca :-)
The red handle really goes well with the bag!

We had another visitor who bought a panel fabric at our booth 2 or 3 years ago and took it with her!
